Shri Hanuman! Lord Hanuman is one of the most idolized deities amongst the Hindu Gods. He is believed to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva and the greatest devotee of Lord Shri Ram. He is the monkey deity renowned for his courage, power and faithful, selfless service. At the same time, he is wise, a great gyani, a yogi, a brahmachari. The world has not yet seen and will not see in future also a mighty hero like Sri Hanuman.
He had the power to change himself any form he wished; He could swell his body to an enormous extent and to reduce it to the length of a thumb. He jumped and crossed Indian Ocean in one leep. He was the destroyer of Rakshasas, devils, ghosts and evils. He was the terror of Rakshasas. He was well knower of the all four Vedas and other sacred books.
Hanuman is one of the seven chiranjivis (immortals). He is also known as "Sankat Mochan" meaning "the remover of obstacles" who removes ignorance (darkness) by his light (knowledge). We find his existence in the greatest epic "Ramayana". He is a central character with Lord Rama . Hanuman participated in Rama's war against the demon king Ravana. He is the only learned scholar who knew the nine vyakaranas. He learnt the Shastras from the sun-god. He was the wisest of the wise, strongest of the strong and bravest of the brave. He who meditates on him and repeats his name attains power,strength, glory, prosperity and success in life. He is worshipped in all parts of India.
He is worshipped in the temples as Bhakta Hanuman and Veera Hanuman. He is seen kneeling humbly in front of Lord Rama’s idol. As Bhakta Hanuman he is seen holding both hands together in prayer and as Veera Hanuman, he is seen holding gada (mace) in one hand and Sanjeevani Parvat (Mountain) in the other.
"O thou existence Absolute, Creator of the three dimensions, we contemplate upon thy divine light. May He stimulate our intellect and bestow upon us true knowledge."
Or simply,
"O Divine mother, our hearts are filled with darkness. Please make this darkness distant from us and promote illumination within us."
